Description

Three button control
Momentary contact type for up, down and stop. Operator may be stopped in any position and door moved up or down from that position. Operator can be wired for constant pressure down when specified. Control circuit 24V. A.C. for user’s protection.
Adjustable automatic friction clutch
Will protect door and operator in case of obstruction.
Limit Switches
Screw type with oilite bronze cams and precision micro switches for both up and down automatic stopping of door positions. (Easily adjustable without tools).
Reversing contactor
Heavy duty type STRUTHERS-DUNN or equal.
Reduction system
The power unit of this operator utilizes a large size V belt (5L) and heavy pulleys for primary reduction, roller chain and steel sprockets for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft, mounted on 1″ (2.5cm) C.R. steel shaft rotating on high speed, self-lubricating, self-aligning pillow block bearings for efficient long lasting, hard working, high traffic operation. Door operating speed approx. 1.0ft. (.3m) per second.
Dual trolley
Cast aluminium alloy chain driven carriage, slides on dual heavy steel angle tracks, with full No. 41 push and pull roller chain, for smooth and quiet operation. In addition a roller spreader is provided to support trolley and prevent chain from rubbing.
Quick release door arm
Quickly disengages operator from door (without tools) for manual operation in the event of power failure.
Motor
1/3 H.P. (.33hp), 1/2 H.P. (.5hp), or 3/4 H.P. (.75hp), 115V., or 230V., 1 phase – 208V., 440V. or 550V., 3 phase. (1 H.P. not recommended on single phase motors).
Manual overload relay
For overload and under voltage protection. (Can be reset manually).
Electro-mechanical instant reverse or stop
This built-in door load sensing device is optional equipment (at extra cost). If downward travelling door meets an obstruction, door will instantly reverse and automatically stop at fully open position or, when specified, can be wired to door stop only. This system eliminates the use of air hose, air switch, retractable cord, etc.
Solenoid brake
To prevent door from coasting and holding in any position.
Headroom required
2-1/2″ (62.5cm) minimum from door’s highest arc of travel.
Backroom
4’7″ (137.5cm) plus door height.
Finish
Primed with rust-proof primer and spray painted in blue hammer tone enamel.

Heavy duty reversing contactor STRUTHERS-DUNN or equal, two sets of three pole contactors on a common frame, mechanically interlocked to prevent simultaneous closure, clapper-type armature with three point suspension, auxiliary contacts DPDT on each armature, coils 24V. A.C. Amps resistive 120V. A.C. 15 amps, 240V. A.C. 10 amps, 550V. A.C. 5 amps. Motor 1 H.P. maximum. Terminals .250″ (.625cm) quick connect, mechanical life 10 million cycles.
Adjustable automatic friction clutch
4″ (10cm) diameter aluminium disc attached to rotating shaft covered one side with 4″ x 1/8″ (10cm x .31cm) non flammable clutch fiber material, compressed against 8″ (20cm) V belt pulley by means of heavy compression spring and castelated threaded nut. Securely locked with 3/16″ (4.8mm) cotterpin. Friction clutch system can be adjusted easily as required depending on door size and weight. Friction clutch will protect door and operator in case of obstruction.
Electrical control cabinet
Factory pre-wired, made from 14 ga. H.R. steel pre-formed enclosure, size 8″ x 10″ x 4-1/2″ (20cm x 25cm x 11.25cm) with removable cover for easy service and maintenance. Mounted on unit chassis with 4 zinc plated steel bolts.
Limit switches
Screw type friction free oilite bronze cams, grooved and lock guided in a formed galvanized steel plate. Cams are fitted on 5/8″ x 10-3/4″ (2.05cm x 26.88cm) C.R. threaded N/F steel shaft rotating on lubricated high speed ballbearings. Cams on their preset travel activate the micro switches to cut power of motor control, in both open and close direction of door. Operating force on limit switches 4 oz. maximum, (113.4g maximum). Contact separation .020″ (.05cm), pre-travel .250″ (.625cm). Termination .250″ (.625cm) quick connect.
Reduction
This extra rugged power unit drive, utilizes one (5L) V belt, one 2″ (5cm) and one 8″ (20cm) type B die cast aluminium alloy pulley, balance for smooth operation on primary reduction. Five 41B12 and one 41B36 steel sprockets, with RC41 roller chain, mounted on 1″ (2.5cm) C.R. steel shaft, rotating on four 1″ (2.5cm) self-lubricating, self-aligning, high speed pillow block bearings for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft. All sprockets and pulleys pinned or keyed to shafting. Door operating speed approx. 1.0 ft. (.3m) per second.
Unit chassis
This heavy steel frame assembly made from 2″ x 2″ x 1/8″ (5cm x 5cm x .31cm) H.R. steel angles, reinforced with steel plates, welded together for greater strength.
Trolley assembly
Made from 2″ x 2″ x 1/8″ (5cm x 5cm x .31cm) H.R. steel angles mounted together with 3/8″ (9.5mm) H.R. steel rods. Cast aluminium alloy chain driven carriage, slides between these dual angle track with full No. 41 push and pull roller chain, for smoother friction free operation. In addition a roller spreader is provided to support trolley at centre and prevent chain from rubbing.
Quick release door lifting arm
1″ x 3/8″ (2.5cm x .93cm) H.R. steel bar bent to 90o adjustable to suit headroom with spring loaded hook, attached to aluminium door bracket. This arm quickly disengages operator trolley from door (without tools) for manual operation in the event of power failure.

Heavy duty solenoid brake
Consists of one 4″ (10cm) diameter aluminium alloy disc mounted on keyed motor shaft, brake lined shoes with 360o exterior compressing force throw spring loaded mechanism. Brake disc stops door when electro-magnetic solenoid switch is released. Mounted on heavy duty steel plates protected in 14 ga. steel enclosure. Solenoid brake mechanism is self-adjusting type.
Unit is factory pre-wired colour coded and tagged. Wiring diagrams are enclosed with each operator. Operator is pre-run and tested before shipment.
